1890s Watteau pleated wrapper gown

This gown is loosely based on a few different extant wrapper gown images and 1898 fashion plates for the sleeve shape.

The Watteau pleat and gown body are draped and the sleeve is patterned flat in two pieces. I show you a glimpse of how I did the draping.

These gowns were meant to be worn mostly at home, in an informal setting and the main focus was comfort. They were still mostly worn with a proper corset and all the underpinnings under but because of the loose shape and belt tie, this could easily be worn as a modern lounging piece with a historical flare.
