Black people and culture have had the biggest influence on many FASHION trends we still wear today and one year after the rise of the BLM movement, we are still not given the proper credits. So this fine Juneteenth I want to illuminate Black culture’s influence on fashion and fashion trends that were created by Black people.

From urban street brands like FUBU, Baby Phat, coming back in style with the rise of the Y2k trend to designers and tastemakers like Dapper Dan, Karl Kani, Stephen Burrows and more we cover it all. Of course we get into the artists and legendary tastemakers who don’t often get their props like Lil Kim and Aaliyah much more. We get into this plus the racist undertones of the popular Y2k fashion trend that was created by Black women but was stolen by white celebrities like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.
