Alexander’s History of England Through Men’s Fashion, Part One: 10, 000 BCE – 1808 CE

One boy’s journey through time set to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on a Theme” by Thomas Tallis

A project by Eric, Kaori and Alexander Shaw
Video production by Monty Langford

This has been a 10-year project by artists Eric and Kaori Shaw with their son Alexander. Part two will take them from the rest of the nineteenth century to the present. In scope, it is similar to the film “Boyhood,” and can be viewed on a number of different levels. This is a survey of Western men’s clothing from the Stone Age to the present using England as the example and Alexander as the model. As Alexander grows, England grows. It is a unique, epic art project that encompasses the talents and abilities of each member of this family. We hope that you enjoy the video.
