In the early 50s, designers , Dior in particular, let women’s silhouettes blossom. A more feminine silhouette meant wide ballerina skirts. The style was romantic. Wearing a Dior dress implied a return to the corset.
Chanel’s style was different .She designed relaxed suits and comfortable dressing.
Ready-to-wear clothes made their way . Everyone could then buy well-designed clothes at a reduced price.
Glamorous women gave much importance to fashion accessories ; hats , berets, brooch corsage, gloves and bags , flat and stiletto shoes, a spiked umbrella and make up .
